According to a market survey conducted by the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) from 2015 to 2016, thermoplastic polyolefins, or TPO, is the most popular choice of material for commercial roofing, taking about 40% of the market share in new roof constructions and 30% for roof replacement. This is followed by ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM), making up 22% of all brand new roofs and 26% of replacements. Modified bitumen, or Mod-bit asphalt roofs, comprises 12.4% of new roofs, and 14% of replacements, takes up third place.
